• Orthopedic and Spine Rehabilitation
Orthopedics is a medical specialty that focuses on injuries and diseases of your body’s musculoskeletal system. This complex system includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves and allows you to move, work and be active.
• Orthotics and Gait Evaluation
We custom make orthotics to fit each patient individually. Properly fit orthotics can relieve pain in an individual’s feet, knees, hips, and low back. The process includes a gait evaluation which is watching the patient walk to determine any abnormalities that can be corrected with the orthotics.
• Aquatics/Warm Water Pool Programs
Aquatic therapy is a type of physical therapy that involves performing flexibility and strengthening exercises in water. Aquatic therapy is especially beneficial for people who have difficulty with weight bearing activities. Our pool is kept at a steady temperature of 94 dg which helps promote healing.
• Manual Therapy
A collection of techniques in which hand movements are skillfully applied to mobilize joints and soft tissues. These techniques may be used to alleviate pain, improve motion, induce relaxation, reduce edema and improve musculoskeletal function.
• Myofasical Release
This hands-on technique seeks to free the body from the grip of tight fascia or connective tissue thus restoring normal alignment and tissue function and reducing pain. Using their hands, therapists apply mild to moderate sustained pressure to gently stretch and soften the fascia
• Strain/Counterstrain
A gentle manual treatment technique to relieve muscle and joint pain. A key component of this technique is passive body positioning to put tight (spasmed) muscles and dysfunctional joints in a position of maximal comfort. This resets the neural system to normal to gain joint range of motion and proper muscular function.
• Ergonomic Training
Education and guidance to design work tasks and work areas to reduce repetitive stress to the body thereby reducing operator fatigue and discomfort. Ergonomics principles come into play with all activities: work systems, posture, body mechanics, sports, leisure, health and everyday daily tasks.
• Core Strengthening
The development of the deep and superficial abdominal and low back muscles that stabilize, align, and move the spine. Core strengthening is important not only to prevent low back pain but is essential to provide a stable place from which the body can work for all athletic and daily living activities. Shoulder, hip and leg muscles work more efficiently when operating from a stable base.
• Balance Training
Training for the ability to recover balance or your base of support from postural sway. Since falls are the primary medical cost for the elderly, balance training is essential for maintaining health as we age. We can also help with dizziness and vestibular (inner ear) imbalances.
